Birding these days seems to have taken on a whole new meaning. As a teenager, Friday night was often referred to as birdy-night. Maybe it was just a Fen thing, but how many of us at one time or another have referred to the beautiful woman on our arm as – ‘me bird’ and probably still might do! That said though, it’s most probably considered inappropriate now – I mean, you can hardly say hello to a stranger these days in the pub without it causing offence to somebody 🤔
Okay then, so why Birdy Boxes? – Since retirement, I am spending more and more time in the garden and often sit for ages with a Gin and Tonic cup of tea, slice of toast and me camera watching the regular flyby’s of seagulls and the smaller birds diving for cover into the trees at the bottom of the garden hiding and waiting for the big-boy display to move on.
Leaving the seagulls to stealing fish, chips and ice cream from the tourists on the prom, I decided to start feeding our garden birds so as to photograph them. This led me on to making nesting boxes and now I am looking at different designs that I can put a camera inside ready for next years breeding season. I love birding
